Environmental Policy
Introduction & Aim
Pure Flavour is an ecommerce mail order
business of ‘free from’ produce. The business
is based from Chitcombe Farm, East Sussex.
Our overall aim for the business is Customer
Service; we will answer the needs of our customers for our
environment too.
It is our aim to minimise the impact of
any Pure Flavour business activities on the environment, as
well as trying only to do business with environmentally friendly
businesses.
Responsibility
It is the responsibility of all those directly involved in
Pure Flavour. Emma Slinn, as director of the company is responsible
for ensuring that the policy is implemented.
Resources
We will ensure that resources are available
to enable us to achieve our objectives and targets.
Objectives
For year 2 (Aug ’09 – July ’10)
- Source raw ingredients locally where possible
- Try to keep food miles to a minimum
- Packaging to be recyclable or biodegradable as much as
possible
- All sourced ingredients to be minimally changed from their
natural, nutrient rich state
e.g. Cold Pressed Olive Oil over normal Olive oil
- All business waste to be recycled or composted or disposed
of in the most appropriate environmentally friendly way
– plastic, paper, cardboard, glass, batteries to be
recycled; food waste to be composted
- All cleaning products to be environmentally friendly for
instance presently using Ecover products which lesser the
impact on the environment
- Any partners or trade partners who produce for Pure Flavour
must also adhere to our environmental policy
Targets
To achieve our aims, we have set ourselves
the following targets:
- Have a clear environmental policy on our website
- Ensure customers are able to clearly see our objectives
in our day to day business
activities, from receipt of products to browsing the internet
– we must come across
as an environmentally friendly company. Continuously seek
feedback & follow up
on any positive/negative feedback
- Continuously be on look out for locally sourced ingredients
& aim to minimise food
miles – every 3 months an update will be carried out
- Packaging – continuously ensure that we have the
most environmentally
friendly packaging from waste to recyclability – to
be relooked at every 6 months.
Monitoring
Progress against these objectives will be monitored though
our monthly management meetings.
