Environmental Policy

Introduction & Aim

Pure Flavour is an ecommerce mail order business of ‘free from’ produce. The business is based from Chitcombe Farm, East Sussex.

Our overall aim for the business is Customer Service; we will answer the needs of our customers for our environment too.

It is our aim to minimise the impact of any Pure Flavour business activities on the environment, as well as trying only to do business with environmentally friendly businesses.

Responsibility
It is the responsibility of all those directly involved in Pure Flavour. Emma Slinn, as director of the company is responsible for ensuring that the policy is implemented.

Resources

We will ensure that resources are available to enable us to achieve our objectives and targets.

Objectives

For year 2 (Aug ’09 – July ’10)

  • Source raw ingredients locally where possible
  • Try to keep food miles to a minimum
  • Packaging to be recyclable or biodegradable as much as possible
  • All sourced ingredients to be minimally changed from their natural, nutrient rich state
e.g. Cold Pressed Olive Oil over normal Olive oil
  • All business waste to be recycled or composted or disposed of in the most appropriate environmentally friendly way – plastic, paper, cardboard, glass, batteries to be
recycled; food waste to be composted
  • All cleaning products to be environmentally friendly for instance presently using Ecover products which lesser the impact on the environment
  • Any partners or trade partners who produce for Pure Flavour must also adhere to our environmental policy

Targets

To achieve our aims, we have set ourselves the following targets:

  • Have a clear environmental policy on our website
  • Ensure customers are able to clearly see our objectives in our day to day business
activities, from receipt of products to browsing the internet – we must come across
as an environmentally friendly company. Continuously seek feedback & follow up
    on any positive/negative feedback
  • Continuously be on look out for locally sourced ingredients & aim to minimise food
miles – every 3 months an update will be carried out
  • Packaging – continuously ensure that we have the most environmentally
friendly packaging from waste to recyclability – to be relooked at every 6 months.

Monitoring
Progress against these objectives will be monitored though our monthly management meetings.
