The Team
I started thinking
about Pure Flavour in Summer 2005,
when I was pregnant with my twins. After years of health
problems, omitting wheat and dairy has made an incredible
difference to my life. Trying to stick to a ‘free
from’ and healthy diet when you
are busy at work, at home, with children & with
all that life throws at you is tough though.
It was shocking how limited the choice of good tasting,
‘free from’
food there was on the market, particularly with so many
people choosing or needing to keep to special diets
these days. I started to cook myself and was thrilled
to discover I could create delicious, health conscious
alternatives; the business grew from there. Now, Pure
Flavour offers a range of over twenty different products,
which all taste delicious. My aim is to make real tasting
‘free from’
produce, while still being health conscious meaning
that they are not laden with saturated fats, excess
sugar or nasty preservatives. |

A little bit about my former life…
I worked in sales and marketing for 7 years. I was based in
the UK at first and then Singapore and Hong Kong. Having lived
abroad, where foods vary so much, I know how difficult it
can be to always stick to a ‘free
from’ diet. The arrival of my boys meant
finding something I could do from home, so I took this opportunity
to develop my tinkerings in the kitchen into a business for
the boys & I.

| Karen and Tricia
of Bonnie
Shortie Karen and Tricia, have been friends
with Nicci (our Pure Flavour ready meal chef) at Warehorne
farmers market. When Nicci knew that I needed help with
producing more of our delicious Gluten, Wheat and Dairy
free cakes — she immediately recommended Karen and
Tricia. After a few phone calls, coffees, sampling cakes,
I am so pleased that they have come on board to help produce
our fabulous range of cakes. Both ladies who have changed
direction from their careers and found themselves cooking
delicious cupcakes and squeezing in running a business
around their children and family — more ladies to
join our lovely Pure Flavour clan. Look out for those
monthly specials! |
Cakes for the Queen's party
A CAKE-MAKER has been told her treats are
fit for a queen.
 |
Emma Slinn's gluten and
dairy free goodies have been so successful since she launched
them a year ago that she received a call with an order
from Buckingham Palace.
Guests at the Queen's summer garden parties last month
were treated to two specialities made by the 33-year-old,
from Brede, near Hastings. |
She has been told her mini lemon drizzle
and coffee sponge cakes went down a storm, although she has
not yet found out whether any passed Her Majesty's lips.
Emma, who runs the company PUre Flavour,
said "I've been told the Queen checks on all the food
being served to I have a nice image of her walking beside
a long table and when she gets to the cakes one of the staff
stops her to point out they are a new addition. Of course,
she then tastes one and thinks it is delicious."
 |
The palace's caterers
were looking for a supplier of cakes suitable for people
intolerant of gluten and dairy products. Emma, herself
gluten intolerant, said they had discovered her website,
www.pureflavour.co.uk,
and asked for samples. They placed an order for hundreds
within hours.
